About
The Arrowhead Regional Development Commission (ARDC) worked with trail associations and other stakeholders to study how trails affect the economy, who uses them and how often they are used. During the Summer of 2018, ARDC distributed surveys and collected automated electronic count data to study use and economic impact of paved trails within the Coastal Zone, including the Duluth Lakewalk, the Willard Munger State Trail, and the St. Louis River Trail.
The study has been funded in part by Minnesota’s Lake Superior Coastal Program, ARDC, the Metropolitan Interstate Council, and the University of Minnesota’s Center for Urban and Regional Affairs.
