ARDC Planning, on behalf of the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), is conducting a review of the Highway 2 Corridor between Cohasset and Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The study corridor is roughly defined as being a point just west of Cohasset to 17th Ave NW in Grand Rapids. ARDC Planning is working with Alliant Engineering and Aune-Fernandez Landscape Architects to address engineering and landscape design aspects of the project.
The study was initiated due to concerns expressed by multiple stakeholders about the roadway’s functionality and seeks to recommend ways to improve the corridor’s traffic flow and turning movements. Additionally, the study aimed to address the corridor’s pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, aesthetics, and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance.
A public input session, held in conjunction with an online survey, was held on November 7, 2019, at Cohasset City Hall. Public comments from this opportunity can be accessed here.
These comments, along with traffic study findings, are helping shape recommendations for the study corridor.
A draft of the U.S. Highway 2 Improvements Study document was open for public review during the month of September 2020. The review period is now closed, and the project’s technical team is reviewing the public feedback to prepare a final document. In the meantime, you can still view the draft document here.
